The Cyber Cell of Rohini district has apprehended seven individuals, including three women, on charges of deceiving multiple individuals by falsely offering assistance in redeeming credit card points or increasing credit card limits. DCP (Rohini) Pranav Tayal identified four of the accused as Pulkit Malik (23), Rahul Verma (22), Avinash Kumar (37), and Jitender Sharma (28), the latter working as a freelance app designer. The three women were reportedly responsible for making fraudulent calls to potential victims.

The investigation was initiated based on a complaint of fraud involving the redemption of credit card points. The complainant reported receiving a call on May 13 from a woman claiming to be from a bank’s credit card department. The caller sent a link on WhatsApp, instructing the complainant to install an app. Upon following the instructions, the complainant discovered that Rs 28,826 had been deducted from his credit card. The Cyber Cell, led by SHO Ajay Dalal, analyzed call detail records and IMEI of the alleged number, identifying the suspects located in Mahavir Nagar.

Following a reconnaissance operation with local intelligence, a raid was conducted on July 12, leading to the arrest of the first accused, Pulkit. During interrogation, Pulkit revealed that he operated a call center from his home with the assistance of the three women. The accused disclosed their modus operandi, which involved sending fake bank app links to their targets. Once installed, these apps granted the accused access to the victims’ messages, including OTPs. Subsequently, Rahul and Avinash were arrested for providing SIM cards used in making calls to the victims.
